Spring Jam with Ne-Yo and Paul Wall

Taco Bell Arena—Contemporary R&B; singer/songwriter Ne-Yo and Dirty South DJ/rapper Paul Wall to headline the Spring Jam on Friday, April 14th at 7:00 pm. The event will also feature Bubba Sparxxx, Lil Rob, Nynewest, and local favorites Arcturus of Mad Ro and Audiology.

Ne-Yo’s debut solo release “In My Own Words” has propelled him to No. 1 on The Billboard 200. His single “So Sick”, currently No. 1 on The Billboard 100, is a smooth ballad lamenting the loss of love. Also an accomplished songwriter, Ne-Yo has written hit songs for Mary J. Blige, Faith Evans, Christina Milian, and B2K and co-wrote Mario’s 2004 megahit “Let Me Love You.” www.defjam.com

Paul Wall was already well known as a DJ, rapper and promoter in Houston’s indie Hip Hop scene before his part on Mike Jones’ hit “Still Tippin’” got him national attention. His current release “The People’s Champ” includes his hit single “Sittin’ Sideways”. Other hits include album “Chick Magnet”, which hit The Billboard Top 100 Hip Hop/R&B; in 2004. If not familiar with his hits, Paul Wall may be more easily recognized for his grills. He is a partner in a Houston based jewelry design shop that specializes in mouth grills. www.djpaulwall.com

Bubba Sparxxx also hails from the Southern Hip Hop scene. His newest album “The Charm”, which is on Outkast’s Big Boi’s label Purple Ribbon Records, is due to hit stores April 4. His debut album “Dark Days, Bright Nights” included the hit single “Ugly”. His memorable video featured Bubba in overalls on a tractor. Latin Hip Hop artist Lil Rob describes himself as a “rapper with a Chicano worldview”. Based in San Diego his music about cars, women, and the Cali scene include samples from doo wap and Chuck Berry’s “School Days”. Rapper Nynewest is a 19-year-old newcomer to watch. She has opened for artists such 50 cent, G-unit, Sean Paul, and Cassidy. www.arecordsmusic.com Arcturus is a member of local hip hop group Mad Ro. Mad Ro has three hit singles in the Top 5 All Time downloads on the Idaho Statesman’s music download site MP3 Idaho. Arcturus will also perform with Audiology.
